John Schwieder is a full time photographer living in Anchorage, Alaska with his wife Cindy. He has worked as a Denali climbing guide, commercial fisherman, and medivac flight paramedic. John lived full time in Alaska in the early 1980’s, then back a forth from Colorado. John returned as a full time resident in 2005.

John’s photographs have appeared in ­publica­tions by National Geographic Adventure, Alaska ­magazine, Alaska Geographic, Inside / Outside, ­Canoe, Alaska Milepost, The Nature ­Conservancy, Natural Resources Defense Council, Alaska ­Wilderness League, Outdoor Photographer, ­Patagonia, Paddler magazine, and in the book , Alaska: Portrait of a State by Graphic Arts Books. Alaska, America’s Wildest State is John’s first solo book.
